Knights Football History
Windsor Academy’s Knights football program is played on Knight Field has included two S.E.A.I.S or GISA Region Championships in 1980 and 2007.
The 1980 “Blue Machine” team (11-1) was led by Head Coach Jimmy Hammond, AD Grady Pittman and Assistant Coaches Steve Dennis and Herschel Wynn. That team “soundly defeated ten regular season opponents, crushing First Presbyterian 28-14 for the Region 2-AA Championship, in what many people called Windsor Academy’s finest hour.”
Windsor Academy Knights – Knights FootballThe 2007 team (12-2) was led by Head Coach Michael Smallwood (Class of 1993) and Assistant Coaches Alan Medley, Dwayne Fuller (Class of 1982), Gerdine Dawson, Jimmy Watts and Ricky Worsham. That team was a GISA AA State Runner-up to Brookwood.
No. 9 Kent Gibson (Class of 2009) has the only football jersey number retired.
