Lady Knights Softball History
Windsor Academy’s Lady Knights softball program has fourteen S.E.A.I.S or GISA Slow-Pitch Softball State Championships. The teams were led by Paula Cross (1972), Jo Collins (1973-76), John Abbott (1977-1980), Jimmy Hammond (1981), and Joel Dickens (1984-85, 1997, 1999).
The 1977 team won the first S.E.A.I.S state tournament ever held for girls’ softball with an undefeated record of 24-0.
In 2003, Coach Joel Dickens was presented a Distinguished Service Award from the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA).
Windsor Ladies Softball C TeamThe 2007 team led by Harry Manning and Assistant Coaches Craig O’Quinn and Ricky Hulett (Class of 1980) won the first GISA Region Championship since 1996 and reached the Final Four and was the first Lady Knights team in school history to seek a GISA AA Fast-Pitch Softball State Championship.
The 2013 team led by Tyler Brown and Assistant Coaches Amanda Brown and Craig O’Quinn also reached the Final Four. For 2014-2015, the Lady Knights were the GISA Fast-Pitch Softball, Class AA State Champions led by Tyler Brown.
For 2015-2016, the Lady Knights repeated as the GISA Fast-Pitch Softball, Class AA State Champions led by Head Coach Leighann Newberry and Assistant Coaches Craig O’Quinn and Larry McKinney.
